Botelism

Were you looking for information about Botulism? Botelism is a common misspelling of botulism.

Botulism is a rare but severe condition that may lead to paralysis or even death. It is caused by natural poisons produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium; these toxins affect people by preventing certain nerves from functioning, resulting in muscle paralysis. Treatment for this illness often involves careful observation, supportive care, and an antitoxin. A person with severe botulism may require a breathing machine as well as intensive medical and nursing care for several months.
