Ilaris Drug Interactions

Before starting treatment with Ilaris, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements. Negative reactions can occur when it is combined with certain products, including echinacea, live vaccinations, and immunosuppressants. Some of these drug interactions with Ilaris can increase your risk for potentially dangerous side effects or decrease the effectiveness of the medications.

Ilaris^® (canakinumab) may react with several other medications. Some of the drugs that can interact with Ilaris include but are not limited to:

Echinacea
"Live" vaccinations, such as:

Chickenpox vaccine (varicella vaccine)
FluMist^® (the nasal vaccine for influenza; the injected vaccine is not live)
MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella vaccine)
Polio vaccine
Rotavirus vaccine
Smallpox vaccine
Yellow fever vaccine
BCG vaccine (used in some countries for tuberculosis)

Other immunosuppressants, such as:

Certain biologic medications, including:

Abatacept (Orencia^®)
Adalimumab (Humira^®)
Alefacept (Amevive^®)
Alemtuzumab (Campath^®)
Anakinra (Kineret^®)
Basiliximab (Simulect^®)
Certolizumab pegol (Cimzia^®)
Daclizumab (Zenapax^®)
Denosumab (Prolia^®)
Eculizumab (Soliris^®)
Efalizumab (Raptiva^®)
Etanercept (Enbrel^®)
Glatiramer (Copaxone^®)
Golimumab (Simponi^®)
Infliximab (Remicade^®)
Ibritumomab (Zevalin^®)
Natalizumab (Tysabri^®)
Ofatumumab (Arzerra^®)
Rilonacept (Arcalyst^®)
Rituximab (Rituxan^®)
Tositumomab (Bexxar^®)
