Conditions to Consider Before Diagnosing Pulmonary Fibrosis

There are a number of medical conditions, occupational and/or environmental inhalants, and drugs that either can cause pulmonary fibrosis or are associated with it. There are also conditions that can share similar symptoms with pulmonary fibrosis. Your healthcare provider will consider these while diagnosing pulmonary fibrosis. Some of the conditions include:
 
If pulmonary fibrosis is diagnosed and no cause is found, the healthcare provider may diagnose the person with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, or IPF for short. This is one of the most common causes of pulmonary fibrosis.
