Drug Interactions With Rilonacept

Echinacea, live vaccines, and immunosuppressants are just a few of the drugs that can cause interactions when used in combination with rilonacept. In some cases, these reactions can interfere with the effectiveness of the medications or increase the risk for potentially serious problems. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely, or may recommend you not combine certain products with rilonacept.

Rilonacept (Arcalyst^®) may interact with several other medications. Some of the drugs that may react with rilonacept include but are not limited to:

Echinacea
"Live" vaccinations, such as:

Chickenpox vaccine (varicella vaccine)
FluMist^® (the nasal vaccine for influenza; the injected vaccine is not live)
MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella vaccine)
Polio vaccine
Rotavirus vaccine
Smallpox vaccine
Yellow fever vaccine
BCG vaccine (used in some countries for tuberculosis)

Medicines that block interleukin-1 (Il-1), such as anakinra (Kineret^®) and canakinumab (Ilaris^®)
Medicines that block tumor necrosis factor (TNF), such as:

Other immunosuppressants, such as:

Sipuleucel-T (Provenge^®).
