Rilonacept Side Effects
Clinical studies have shown that people who used rilonacept most commonly reported side effects like infections or reactions at the injection site. Although these problems were common side effects, they can also be potentially serious. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you are using this drug and develop a fever, coughing, or severe pain at the injection site.

Just like any medicine, rilonacept (Arcalyst®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with rilonacept. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)
Some side effects of rilonacept are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Signs of infection, such as:
- Fever
- Chills
- Aches and pains
- Painful urination
- Cough
- Black, tarry or bloody stools
- Reactions at the injection site, such as:
- Persistent or severe pain
- Redness
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Hives
- Blisters
- Bleeding
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
- Hives
- Rash
- Itching
- Unexplained swelling of the mouth or throat
- Wheezing
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
